Make Ready Maintenance Technician

Job Responsibilities:

Badger Canyon Apartments is currently seeking a self-motivated, hardworking and reliable Make Ready Maintenance Technician / Painter to help with the turnover process at one of our apartment communities. Successful candidates will have prior experience with drywall repairs, painting and general maintenance skills. This is a full-time Monday through Friday position and in the event that there is any downtime, the Make Ready Maintenance Technician / Painter will be required to help with work in the Maintenance Department to assist with any outstanding work orders. 

Additional job responsibilities:

  • Read service requests and inspect vacant units to determine materials needed.

  • Prepare the vacant unit by removing overhead light fixtures, taping electrical sockets and light switches and priming stains on the walls.

  • Fill cracks, holes, or joints with caulk, putty, plaster, or other fillers, using caulking guns and putty knives.

  • Perform drywall repair and apply primers to prepare walls for paint.

  • Paint walls, trim, and the apartment door using a paint roller or a sprayer.

  • Responsible for any touchups needed after the apartment has been inspected.

  • Responsible for cleaning up materials in the vacant unit once the job is complete. Clean and maintain tools and equipment, brushes, and rags.

  • Present the ability to work cooperatively with others.

  • Additional duties as requested by the manager.

Job Qualifications:
  • Ability to effectively and professionally communicate with residents and co-workers.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Previous painting and drywall repair experience is required.

  • Ability to complete full vacant turn process.

  • Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position, such as climbing ladders and stairs; walking, kneeling, standing, squatting, twisting and bending for long periods of time.

  • Experience with windows, appliances, faucets, garbage disposals, and door lock repairs and replacements, as well as carpentry and ceramic tile installation is preferred.

  • Some electrical and plumbing experience preferred.

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation is required.

  • Must adhere to company team apparel policy.

  • Must present the ability to execute job duties under stressful circumstances such as last minute deadlines or other difficult situations.

Employees are required to be honest and trustworthy with a satisfactory background. A valid driver's license and reliable transportation will be required as this position will entail the operation of a personal and potentially a company vehicle.
